As expected, Theresa May won her seat in Maidenhead.
But that’s not why you’re here, is it?
As the PM lined up for the declaration of her constituency’s results, most of the talk on social media wasn’t about her. It wasn’t even about Jeremy Corbyn who, only minutes earlier, had called for the PM to step down after the Conservatives lost a number of seats to Labour.
Nope, instead it was about the mysterious figure that stood on the same stage as Mrs May. No, not Elmo.

‘Lord Buckethead’ (Jonathan David, to give him his proper name) took a total of 249 votes away from the prime minister. He even celebrated this news with a dab. (Theresa May did not dab.)

However, it was, as pointed out by this tweet, a wonderful example of democracy at its very best…

And also of how British politics is anything but boring…

Good to see Lord Buckethead clapping politely at Teresa May's count. That's democracy.

As his name trended globally, the man himself took to Twitter.
