Paul Ryder passed away hours before the band were due to play a festival
Paul Ryder has been remembered as a “great friend and a great musician” following his death on Friday, aged 58.
Ian Brown, from the Stone Roses, led tributes to Paul, who was a founding member of the Happy Mondays along with his older brother, Shaun Ryder, 59.
He wrote: “Rest in peace Paul Ryder a great friend a great musician a great fella. Big love to Amelia, Jacob, Sonny, Chico and the family and band. Love ya long time pabs.”

Paul was found dead just hours before the band were due to play at Kubix Festival in Sunderland.
The circumstances surrounding his death are not yet known.
The Happy Mondays paid tribute to Paul on social media, writing: “The Ryder family and Happy Mondays band members are deeply saddened and shocked to say that Paul Ryder passed away this morning.
“A true pioneer and legend. He will be forever missed.
“We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time.’ Paul has previously been very open about his addiction battles in the early days of the band and used heroin.”
