His daughter also paid tribute
Phillip Schofield has announced that his ‘magnificent’ mother, Pat has died.
Schofield, 62, said that his mum passed away on Monday at 3pm following a ‘heartbreaking weekend’ adding that she had gone ‘to her beloved [husband] Brian’.
Schofield said in a video message posted on Instagram: “Over three days, we held her, loved her, hugged her and said everything that needed to be said.
“She was calm, peaceful, beautiful and dignified. I will forever be proud and privileged that she was my mum. I love you mum, forever.”
The former This Morning presenter who recently appeared on Channel 5’s Cast Away did not reveal any more details about how his mum had died but said: “Our eternal thanks to the paramedics, Treliske ASE and Critical Care team who have been, in the past and this weekend, my mum’s and our angels.
“Your love and care has been our saviour.”
Alongside the announcement he shared a selection of photographs of his mum.
Meanwhile, his daughter Molly shared her own tribute to her grandmother, alongside of a photo of herself and her sister Ruby with Pat.
His mum had supported him following his resignation from This Morning after it was revealed he had an affair with a younger male colleague.
In June of this year, Pat fell ‘seriously ill’ with an unknown condition for several days, Schofield stayed by her side.
A source close to the family told The Sun at the time: “Given the stress Phillip has been through in recent weeks, this couldn’t have come at a worse time for the family.
“Given that his mother was the woman Phillip turned to in his hour of need, her illness is a particularly cruel twist of fate.”
