His comments have divided opinion
As Team GB celebrate their first two medals of the Olympic Games on the first day of events, one famous Brit who was not cheering was broadcaster and journalist Piers Morgan.
The former Good Morning Britain host took to X to rant about silver and bronze medallists, branding them ‘losers’.
He said: “Memo to Olympics fans: if you’re someone who thinks silver and bronze medals constitute ‘winning’, you need to stay well away from my X feed for the next two weeks. You can celebrate losing if you like, but I only care about [gold].”

His post came shortly after Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen won a slightly unexpected bronze in the 3m synchronised diving and just before Anna Henderson won a silver in the women’s individual cycling time trial this afternoon.
Fans were quick to hit back at the former news editor with one quipping: “This coming from a diehard Arsenal fan.”
Another said: “Making it to the Olympics is a win for most real athletes Piers. Good armchair commentating though.”
While another slammed Morgan asking: “How many medals have you won?”
Others agreed with the 59-year-old with one saying: “You’re 100% right, if you ain’t first you’re last.”
Another commented: “Absolutely, gold is the ultimate goal! Silver and bronze are great achievements, but there’s nothing like being the best.”
Meanwhile, Team GB bosses will not care too much for Morgan’s comments as they get off to a flying start out in Paris.
It’s the first time they have won a medal on day one since 2004 and the first time they have won two medals on the opening day since 1980 and the day is not yet done.
The men’s individual time trail is just getting started with Josh Tarling looking to emulate what Henderson achieved in the women’s version of the event earlier today.
