Despite the news that he did not break Ofcom regulations, Morgan will not be returning to Good Morning Britain.
TV sources have confirmed that Piers Morgan will not be returning to ITV’s Good Morning Britain as a host, despite him being cleared of breaching broadcast regulations over comments he made about Meghan Markle.
An insider confirmed to the Mirror that there were no plans to bring Morgan back to the ITV morning news programme.
On Wednesday, Ofcom announced that Morgan had not breached the broadcasting code when he had made comments questioning claims made by Meghan Markle regarding her mental health.
ITV said after the news broke: “We welcome the Ofcom ruling that Good Morning Britain did not breach the broadcast standards relating to harm and offence.
“The ruling sets out clearly that it was the balance and context the programme makers provided which was key in mitigating against the potential for harm and offence which could have been caused by Piers Morgan’s comments.
“It is because of the programme’s editorial decisions and the opposing views which were forcefully expressed by other presenters and guests, that the programme did not breach Ofcom’s rules.”
After the announcement from Ofcom, the former newspaper editor was delighted, tweeting: “BREAKING: @Ofcom rejects all complaints against me over Meghan Markle furore that led to my exit from @GMB .
“Verdict says I was entitled to disbelieve her & Prince Harry & to restrict my right to do so would be a ‘chilling restriction on freedom of expression.”

He followed this with a message saying: “I’m delighted OFCOM has endorsed my right to disbelieve the Duke & Duchess of Sussex’s incendiary claims to Oprah Winfrey, many of which have proven to be untrue.
“This is a resounding victory for free speech and a resounding defeat for Princess Pinocchios. Do I get my job back?”

Morgan had been under investigation from Ofcom after the regulator received thousands of complaints in March following comments Morgan made on GMB about Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah.

He said that he refused to believe that she felt suicidal, and questioned other claims she made in the interview.
He later stormed off the show after clashing with weatherman Alex Beresford.
Ofcom confirmed that 57,121 people had submitted formal complaints over the presenter’s comments about her.
He was urged by ITV to apologise for his comments, but refused and eventually quit the show.
