Smith College, Massachusetts, is currently dealing with a serious case of racial profiling after campus police were called by a member of the college’s staff to investigate a girl simply eating her lunch.
The staff member in question called the police on Tuesday to describe the young girl eating her lunch as looking ‘out of place’ in the building, as reported by NBC.
The woman who was the victim of the discriminatory attack is currently working on the campus over the summer as a teaching assistant.
She is also an undergraduate student at the college.
After the ordeal, she later posted on Facebook stating that it is outrageous that she simply couldn’t be allowed to sit down and enjoy her lunch break in peace.
“All I did was be black,” she said.
A diversity official at the school has confirmed that the college is currently reviewing the actions of the employee. They added that the college does not tolerate any race or gender-based discrimination.
Which they can now prove by firing the individual who made the call.
