Police have been called to Harry and Meghan’s luxury home in Southern California nine times in as many months, official data has shown.

Since July last year, when the Sussexes moved into their new pad with their son Archie, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has been quick to deal with alarm activations, calls recorded as phone requests and property crimes.

The figures, which were obtained under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act by PA news agency, were released following the couple’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which they expressed fears over their security.

Police officers were contacted four times in July 2020 alone, after the Sussex’s moved to Montecito from Los Angeles, where they lived before settling in their new $14m mansion.

One call is recorded as a phone request, while the other calls are listed as “alarm activations,” it has been revealed. All of the calls were made in the early hours of the morning.

At approximately 4.13pm on Christmas Eve last year, sheriff’s deputies were called to the Sussex’s home after a man had allegedly trespassed.

Officers returned to the luxury pad on Boxing Day, just before 3pm, for a call listed under the description of “Property Crimes”.

The most recent call, which was listed as an alarm activation, occurred in the early hours of the morning on 16 February.

Harry and Meghan’s security arrangements came into the spotlight after the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.

During the interview, Meghan said she sent letters to Prince Charles urging him not to remove Harry’s personal security.

Prince Harry said that he never expected that his personal security would be taken away from him following his decision to move to the US and step back from certain royal duties.

He said: “I was born into this position. I inherited the risk. So that was a shock to me.”

“The biggest concern was while we were in Canada, in someone else’s house. I then got told, short notice, that security was going to be removed. By this point, courtesy of the Daily Mail, the world knew our exact location.”

Prince Harry said that his concern over his family’s security in Canada prompted his decision to move to the US.
