In case you didn’t know, things have not been running too smoothly for Fifa of late.
Sepp Blatter was re-elected as President ahead of Prince Ali bin Hussein, but then stepped down a short while later amidst an on-going corruption investigation.
Since then, the clear favourite to take over from Blatter has been current Head of UEFA, Michel Platini.
Now, according to a report in L’Equipe, there’s even more trouble in paradise. Prince Ali has declared that he won’t be backing Platini’s bid to become Fifa’s president.
“I’ve worked with him, and we’ve had agreements and disagreements. There’s nothing personal between us, but I don’t think he’s the right person to make the current reforms,” Prince Ali told Agence France-Presse.
Openly expressing his concern for the future of the governing body. Prince Ali was less forthcoming as to whether he would be running (again) for the presidency himself.
“The question is never about who will be President, but having the right person to do the job,” he explained.
