The Duke of Sussex is “united in grief” with his family
Prince Harry is planning to return to the UK for the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, after the sad news that Prince Philip had passed away on Friday morning at the age of 99.
It will be the first time that Harry has returned to the country since stepping down from his royal duties along with wife Meghan Markle.
Markle, however, is not expected to fly over from the US due to the fact that she is heavily pregnant with her and Harry’s second child.
Sources have confirmed that the prince has spoken with several members of his family, including his father Prince Charles, and is making immediate plans to return to England in time for his grandfather’s funeral.
The Sussex’s paid tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh on Friday as they replaced the website homepage of their Archewell charitable foundation with a message reading: “In loving memory of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. 1921-2021.
“Thank you for your service. You will be greatly missed.”
According to another source, Harry has spoken to his cousins Beatrice and Eugenie as well, telling them of his plans to return.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the source said: “He said he wants to be with everyone and was already making arrangements to come home.”
Current restrictions state that mourners coming from abroad are expected to self-isolate for ten days after arriving. However, the Duke of Sussex would be allowed to leave his place of self-isolation on compassionate grounds to attend the funeral, or if he tests negative on the fifth day of his quarantine. He may also be considered exempt from self-isolation requirements due to his status as a member of the Royal Family.
The family will now be entering a period of official mourning for Prince Philip, which may last several weeks.
