The singer will reportedly appear in court next month
Singer R Kelly has reportedly been charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Chicago, reports in the US have claimed.
A report in the Chicago Sun-Times claims that a Cook County judge has approved an arrest warrant for the R&B star, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly.
The same report says attorney Michael Avenatti recently gave a videotape which allegedly shows R. Kelly having sex with a minor to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. It is unclear at this stage if the charges are related to the tape.
Avenatti tweeted shortly after the news broke, claiming Kelly’s ‘day of reckoning’ had arrived.
After 25 years of serial sexual abuse and assault of underage girls, the day of reckoning for R Kelly has arrived.

US media reports claim the 52-year-old is expected to appear in court on March 8.
Kelly was dropped by his record label last month following years of sexual misconduct allegations.
The allegations, which have dogged Kelly for many years, hit the headlines again following the broadcast of a documentary series from US network Lifetime.
Surviving R Kelly featured testimony from multiple women who said they had relationships with Kelly when they were underage, and had suffered mental and physical abuse from the singer.
