Man of the people
Rishi Sunak has said he enjoys a McDonald’s with his daughters, but people were quick to point out a rather significant problem with their favourite order.
In an appearance on This Morning, the Tory leadership hopeful was asked what his favourite meal from Maccies is.
He told hosts Rochelle Humes and Andi Peters that on his last trip to the fast food outlet he got a bacon roll with ketchup, before adding that if he’s with his daughters then “we get the [breakfast] wrap.”
“My eldest daughter – if I’m with her, it’s the wrap with hash browns and everything in it. It’s what we do,” he said.
But this is an item that hasn’t been on the menu for two and a half years.
McDonald’s announced the popular breakfast item was being pulled from the menu in March 2020, before confirming this was a permanent move earlier this year.
Rishi Sunak tells This Morning that if he goes to McDonald's with his daughters they all get the breakfast wrap… as a breakfast wrap aficionado I can confirm they were taken off the menu in March 2020 due to Covid, and in January it was confirmed they will never return!

Following the fast food faux pas, a source from the Tory MP’s campaign team told the Mirror: “Rishi has barely seen his kids in the last two and half years since he became Chancellor so there has been almost no opportunity to share a McDonald’s with them.
“He’s hoping they might consider bringing the breakfast wrap back on the menu.”
This comes after Sunak was roundly mocked for a social media post he shared in which claimed to have “nailed” contactless payment in a McDonalds.
The former chancellor’s struggles with contactless are well-documented, but he claimed to have mastered it in the post on his Instagram story.
Except as you can clearly see from the picture, the order has already gone through and been paid for on screen.

Sunak has always insisted that his mega wealth doesn’t mean he is out of touch with people.
In the same interview on This Morning, he said: “I think in this country we judge people by their character and their actions rather than what’s in their bank account.”
