Premier League Winner. PFA Player of the Year. Facebook’s Player of the Season. Riyad Mahrez just can’t stop picking up the accolades this season.
The Leicester City winger has just named Player of the Year in the 2016 Facebook Football Awards.
Mahrez came top in a poll of over that asked over one million football fans on Facebook, ITV Football and Mirror Football social media channels.
The Facebook Football Fan Awards are unique in that they are the only Premier League awards to be voted for by fans from around the world. All you needed was a Facebook account to take part.Â
Talking about his fresh accolade, Mahrez said: “It’s something special, and something big as well, because it’s from all over the world, and I thank them, and thanks to all of my fans. I love all my fans. I am very happy.”
Also coming away with a Facebook Football award was Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial.
Winning the Young Player of the Year award, the young Frenchman said, “Thanks to all Facebook fans for supporting me as the young player of the year. I am happy to be playing in the Premier League and I hope that I will continue to score plenty more”.
Elsewhere, Leicester City won the Club of the Year award for their incredible season with Claudio Ranieri winning Manager of the Year.
As for who made the Facebook Football Awards Premier League XI? Well…
On being selected in the Best XI of the Year, Harry Kane said: “It’s great. It shows you are doing something right. The fact that it comes from Facebook who have so many fans worldwide means it’s something I’m very happy with.”
