Russell Brand performs U-turn and backs Ed Miliband

Political Rebrand...

Russell Brand, the enigmatic poster boy of the none-of-the-above movement, has now dramatically offered his backing to Labour on May 7…

Brand has been famously dismissive of parliamentary politics in the past, previously declaring that a non-vote is a strong statement in itself.

But following his interview with Ed Miliband – the second part of which can be seen below – the actorvist/comedian/walking thesaurus has thrown his support behind the Labour leader.

“I know I’ve been ‘Mr Don’t Vote’ but actually what I meant was politics isn’t something we can just be involved in every five years. Democracy is for every day – not just for elections,” said Brand.

“If you’re Scottish, you don’t need an English person telling you what to do…if you’re in Brighton I think it would be a travesty if we lost the voice of Caroline Lucas in Westminster. But anywhere else, you’ve gotta vote Labour…so we can begin community-led activism – so we can be heard continually.

“There’s loads of things I could complain about Ed Miliband…but what’s important is, this bloke will be in Parliament and I think this bloke will listen to us.”
