The company plan to offer a bonus structure as an incentive for pilots to give up their time off. Pilots, however, want more money.
Ryanair’s plan to avert a crisis leading to the cancellation of a number of flights over the coming weeks looks doomed to failure.
Tom Lyons of the Sunday Business Post had reported that the company planned to offer a bonus scheme to incentivise pilots to cut their annual leave.
The offer – which would see captains offered a one-off bonus of €12,000 and first captains a one-off bonus of €6,000 – comes with strict conditions.
As well as the necessity to fly extra hours, pilots would need to work at least 10 days that they were due to have off between September 15 of this year and October 31 2018. This would include one five day block during their month off.
However, Lyons has now revealed that pilots are expected to refuse the scheme.
I hear a lot of #Ryanair pilots are already rejecting the proposed bonus scheme. Airline may have to offer more.

Ryanair are expected to be paying €25m in compensation payouts and other costs after being forced to cancel between 40 and 50 flights daily up to the end of October 2017.
