The capital’s Mayor fancies round two in the hot seat

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has confirmed he will seek a second term in the capital’s highest political office.

During an appearance on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners podcast, the Labour politician said he was going to run again for the Mayor’s position.

“I will be running again to be the Mayor, yes – that’s the first time I’ve said that publicly,” he said.

Jessie Ware tweeted: “Hear ye! Mayor Sadiq Khan announces he’ll stand for re-election! The Mayor of London came to mum’s house to break his Ramadan fast.

“We discuss nightlife in London, Trump’s visit, Aswad, rising crime rates, racism in football and fish and chips.”

Sadiq’s first term as Mayor has been one characterised by violent crime and disaster, presiding over a period of just more than a year that included the London Bridge, Westminster and Finsbury Park mosque attacks, as well as the fire at Grenfell Tower.

Since, a spate of stabbings in 2018 has seen London’s murder rate at times exceed that of New York.
