Singer Pete Burns has died at the age of 57

Very sad news.

Pete Burns, the founding member of the band Dead or Alive, has died at the age of 57.

A statement on behalf of the band was released on Burns’ official Twitter account on Monday evening confirming that the singer had died of ‘a massive cardiac arrest’ on Sunday.

The statement read: “It is with great sadness that we have to break the news that our beloved Pete Burns… died suddenly yesterday of a massive cardiac arrest.

“All of his family and friends are devastated by the loss of our special star. He was a true visionary, a beautiful talented soul, and he will be missed by all who who loved and appreciated everything he was and all the wonderful memories he has left us with.

“We have no more words, we will make a statement when we have had a chance to come to terms with our devastating loss.”

The band are best known for the song ‘You Spin Me Round,’ which was a number one hit and achieved huge success worldwide in 1985.

Burns subsequently had a solo career and appeared on a series of reality TV programmes, including Celebrity Big Brother, Celebrity Wife Swap and Come Dine with Me.
