The 29-year-old is awaiting extradition

The son of property magnate Rocco Tomassetti has been arrested after allegedly shooting his parents in their mansion on Christmas morning.

Dino Tomassetti, allegedly fled the scene in a Cadillac Escalade and is awaiting extradition, according to police.

Rocco Tomassetti, 65, and his wife Vinceta Marsicano-Tomassetti, 64, were reportedly shot around 10am on Christmas morning.

The victims had to undergo surgery for their wounds, with the father in the most serious condition, according to New Jersey outlet Daily Voice.

The Tomassettis are a hugely successful construction dynasty of Italian heritage which helped to shape New York City’s skyline.

Son Dino reportedly works as a personal trainer.

Neighbours of the couple were shocked that a shooting would take place in their affluent neighbourhood.

One resident told the New York Post, “They’re very nice people. You couldn’t ask for better neighbours. That’s all I can tell you. They don’t bother you. They keep their house beautiful. They talk to you and say, ‘Can I help you with anything?’ They’re very fine people. I can’t say a bad word about them.”
