Suicide bombers launched a deadly attack on Turkey’s biggest airport which has killed 10 and left at least 20 wounded.
Sky News report that the attackers opened fire on travellers at the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul with automatic weapons before detonating explosives in chilling echoes of the attacks on Brussels earlier this years
Two attackers are believed to have begun spraying bullets from a Kalashnikov rifle before blowing themselves up close to the entrance of the airport and hand grenades were also used in the attack, according to Turkish media
Police at the airport had attempted to gun down the terrorists but they managed to detonate their devices.
“Unfortunately 10 people have been killed according to a preliminary toll,” justice minister Bekir Bozdag said told parliament in Ankara.

Bozdag could only confirm official about one attacker based on initial information coming from the scene of the airport atrocity.
He said “a terrorist at the international terminal entrance first opened fire with a Kalashnikov and then blew himself up”.
The attack happened in the arrivals hall before they would have gone through security, officials said.
The wounded were being rushed to nearby hospitals in taxis and flights have now been diverted from Ataturk airport.
Recent attacks on Turkey, including some on tourists, have escalated in recent months with some being linked to Kurdish separatists and others to so-called Islamic State.
