Nazar Mohammad continued poking fun at the Taliban even as he faced a certain death
A brave Afghan comedian continued to mock the Taliban even after the insurgent group dragged him out of his home to face a firing squad.
Nazar Mohammad, better known as Khasha Zwan, was captured and killed by the Taliban after they gained control of Kandahar at the end of July.
He was well known on TikTok for mocking the Taliban through popular TikTok trends, songs, and dances.
The TikTok content creator was shot multiple times after this video was captured.
Images later showed him backed up against a tree and then lying on the ground with his throat cut, reports MailOnline.
Initially, the Taliban denied their involvement in the killing, though they eventually admitted it and claimed Nazar was involved in the torture and killing of Taliban.
Nazar had worked for the Afghan national police, which MailOnline claims made him a target for revenge killings. Nazar is survived by his wife and daughters, and a loyal TikTok following.
Sarwar Danesh, the Afghan vice president before the Taliban took over Kabul this month, said that slapping Nazar was the same as slapping all of the Afghan people.
Despite the execution Nazar, the Taliban seem committed to the idea of Taliban 2.0. Their leaders fronted a press conference soon after seizing Kabul. However, there have also been several reports of barbaric reprisals.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “We will judge this regime based on the choices it makes and by its actions rather than by its words — on its attitude to terrorism, crime, and narcotics, as well as humanitarian access and the right of girls to receive an education.”
