Free movement is overrated

Free movement is overrated

British travellers will have to pay €7 (£6.30) in order to travel visa-free in the EU once we leave.

European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker confirmed the fee would come into force from 2021.

Brits will also need to pre-register for the electronic visa waiver which lasts for three years.

The draft agreement for the UK’s withdrawal from the EU says: “The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will apply to United Kingdom nationals once union law on free movement of union citizens ceases to apply to them, as to other visa-free third country nationals”

A Commission source told Sky News: “”Once ETIAS enters into operation, all visa-exempt non-EU nationals who plan to travel to the Schengen area will have to apply via ETIAS,”

Happy holidays.
