Top Gear has always been a massive show for the BBC.
Back in the days before they sacked Jeremy Clarkson millions of viewers would tune in to BBC2 on a Sunday night.
But BBC bosses are obviously planning on making the new-look, post-Clarkson era as big as humanly possible.
They’ve already splashed out on a new presenting team with Chris Evans, Matt Le Blanc and Eddie Jordan the big names.
However, it looks like big wigs at the Beeb are set to push Top Gear into a prime time slot to get as many people watching as they can.
Rather than being stuck on BBC2 at 8pm, it looks like the new series of the show will get big billing on BBC1.
With eight new episodes set to air in May, the Mirror report that Top Gear may be given the prime slot after Antiques Roadshow and Countryfile which pull in nine million viewers.
A similar move with the Great British Bake Off hugely boosted the show’s popularity and appeal – and bosses believe it could make Top Gear even bigger.
