Trevor Noah has got a big ass groove to fill (no, not in that way, you rascals).
Jon Stewart’s faithful old derrière has been in that famous black swivel chair for 16 years.
But there’s a new set of cheeks stepping into the fray. This seems to be the tone of the teaser trailer for the South African comedian’s debut as host of the Daily Show.
With Kanye West’s anthem ‘Power’ blasting out, Noah cruises into the studio and plonks himself down in Stewart’s spot with the tagline “Same chair, different ass.”
It might be the same chair, but Noah intends to take the Daily Show in a new direction, taking the p*ss out of sites like Buzzfeed and Gawker and not just old foe Fox News.
He told Entertainment Weekly: “The Daily Show was based on an emerging 24 hour news cycle, that’s everything it was.
“That’s what inspired The Daily Show. Now you look at news and it’s changed. It’s no longer predicated around 24 hour news. There are so many different choices.”
“I’m taking things in a slightly different direction, but to the same endpoint,” Noah added.
It’s never going to be the same again, but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t excited and intrigued to tune in on September 28.
