The army veteran inspired a nation last year during the first national lockdown as he completed 100 laps of his garden, raising £30m for the National Health Service in the process.
On Sunday, his family confirmed he had been taken into Bedford Hospital and had tested positive for Covid-19.
On Tuesday morning a statement was posted to Sir Tom’s official Twitter account, confirming he had passed away.
Tributes instantly started pouring in, with countless public figures hailing his inspirational actions throughout his 100-year life.
Gary Lineker said he led an “extraordinary life.”
