Donald Trump supporters have been wearing ear bandages as a show of support for the former president after he survived an assassination attempt.

On July 13, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired shots at the Republican whilst he was speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania.

Trump quickly ducked to the ground as he was swarmed by security, and when he stood up blood could be seen on his ear, which appeared to have been grazed by a bullet.

Crooks had positioned himself on a roof approximately 200 yards away from where the rally was taking place and was shot dead by security forces.

This week, the Republican National Convention (RNC) has been taking place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

This was Trump’s first public appearance since the attack and when he appeared at the convention earlier, he was wearing a bandage on his ear due to his injury.

On the third night of the convention Trump supporters decided to show their support for him by donning their own ear bandages.

Speaking to the BBC, one woman said she was wearing a bandage to show Trump “how much we love him.”

She said people wearing the bandages were “helping President Trump set a new fashion statement.”

The RNC will see Trump confirmed as the party’s 2024 presidential nominee, and he is due to give a speech to the convention on Thursday.

One man was killed in the attack on Saturday. Corey Comperatore, a husband and father of two, died trying to protect his family during the shooting.

Two other people were critically injured.
