The man wielded a spear with an American flag attached
A man photographed in the US Capitol building wearing a horned helmet and wielding a spear as violent, Trump-supporting insurrectionists attacked the building on Wednesday has been arrested and charged.
Jacob Anthony Chansley — a.k.a. Jake Angeli — describes himself as a QAnon digital warrior, a shaman, an ordained minister, a published author, a former YouTube personality and a Trump supporter.
The US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia said that Chansley had been arrested and charged for his role in the mob which stormed the Capitol, making him one of at least a dozen charged so far.
He was taken into custody on Saturday, the attorney’s office said in a press release.
Jacob Anthony Chansley, a.k.a. Jake Angeli, of Arizona, was charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, and with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. Chansley was taken into custody today.
It is alleged that Chansley was identified as the man seen in media coverage who entered the Capitol building dressed in horns, a bearskin headdress, red, white and blue face paint, shirtless, and tan pants. This individual carried a spear, approximately 6 feet in length, with an American flag tied just below the blade.
Chansley was one of the most distinctive individuals pictured on the day. He was seen shirtless and tattooed, with faceprint, wearing a variety of furs and was pictured posing in the Senate.
Two other high profile arrests were also made on Saturday as Adam Johnson and Richard Barnett were arrested for their roles in the mob.
