A magnitude 7 earthquake has struck near the Indonesian islands of Bali and Lombok
The earthquake, which registered 7.0 on the Richter scale and struck at a depth of 15km (9.3 miles) has now caused a tsunami warning to be issued.
Map by GoogleAn alert has been released from the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics which covers North Lombok, East and North Bali, the north side of East Java, Southeast Madura, South Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi.
It struck at 6:45 pm western Indonesia time and caused residents and tourists to flee their homes, restaurants and hotels.
“All the hotel guests were running so I did too. People filled the streets,” said Michelle Lindsay, an Australian tourist in Bali to Reuters news agency.
The epicentre was 2km east-south-east of Loloan and tremors were felt for several seconds in Bali. They also caused a large-scale evacuation of a nearby volcano.

The earthquake comes just days after a 6.4 struck the same area and killed 17 people and injured more than 160 after several buildings collapsed.
Indonesia’s Disaster Mitigation Agency has stated there is “potential” for a tsunami to take place.
There are no current reports of any casualties by Indonesian officials.
