Workers from several fast food chains and delivery companies are striking over pay
UberEats and Deliveroo drivers, and workers from a handful of McDonald’s, Wetherspoons and TGI Fridays branches, are taking industrial action on Thursday over pay, as reported by BBC News.
The action has been dubbed ‘McStrike’.
Workers at four Wetherspoons pubs, two McDonald’s restaurants, and three TGI Fridays locations will walk out on October 4th. Staff at all three chains want to be paid £10 per hour.

Two Weatherspoons pubs in Brighton will be affected, along with two TGI Friday’s in London and one in Milton Keynes, and McDonald’s outlets in London, Cambridge, and Watford.
Striking UberEats want to be paid £5 per delivery, and an extra £1 per mile for each job. This follows walk-outs last month, after UberEats reduced its minimum payment per delivery from £4.26 to £3.50.
Those striking will not deliver between 5pm and 6pm in London, Bristol, Brighton, Newcastle, Plymouth, Southampton, Glasgow and Cardiff.
A rally has also taken place in London.

According to the BBC, UberEats, JD Wetherspoon and McDonald’s have all defended their record on pay.
“Last week couriers using our app in cities across the UK took home an average of £9-10 per hour during mealtimes, with many also using other delivery apps,” said UberEats in a statement.
McDonald’s said that support for the action was “diminishing” and “any suggestion that this activity is widespread and growing is not accurate”.
