Nearly 1000 individuals and entities have been sanctioned since Russian invasion began

The UK government has announced a further 350 sanctions against various Russian individuals and entities.

These sanctions effectively bring Britain’s action list in line with those made by the EU.

Downing Street said the announcement means that since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began, the UK has sanctioned nearly 1000 of Russia’s most high-value individuals, entities, and businesses.

Individuals from previous announcement include Chelsea FC boss Roman Abramovich.

Earlier on Tuesday, the government also announced it was banning the export to Russia of high-end luxury goods and increasing tariffs on Russian products – including vodka.

While President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has welcomed the new measures, in a call with various Western leaders on Tuesday, he said the bans were “not enough” to stop Vladimir Putin and called for a full trade embargo.

Zelensky further renewed calls for a “no-fly zone” above Ukraine.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
