RIP Philip
The news of Prince Philip’s death at the age of 99 has seen an overwhelming outpouring of grief from the general public in the UK and across the world.
The Duke of Edinburgh was married to the Queen for 73 years and passed away peacefully at Windsor Castle at the age of 99.
While, at the time of writing, Buckingham Palace have not come out and made a public statement beyond the announcement of his passing, the royal social media accounts have been altered to show their respects for Prince Philip.
While the accounts for Royal Family, Clarence House (Charles and Camilla), and the Kensington Royal (William and Kate) usually display a personal photo of the royal members who the account is for, they have all changed their header photos to a black and white image of Philip today.
As well as this alteration to their social media pages, the Royal Family’s website is currently not accessible, instead just displaying the words “The Duke of Edinburgh 1921 – 2021.”
The Royal Family announced the death of Prince Philip on Friday at 12:01pm, saying: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”
