Police have said no one will face charges over the death
A woman mauled to death by eight dogs she was walking has been named as Natasha Johnson.
The 28-year-old was attacked by the dogs while walking at a beauty spot in Caterham, Surrey, on January 12.
Surrey Police were called to Gravelly Hill after reports of a dog attack and later seized eight dogs.
An 11 stone Leonburger named Shiva is reported to have been one of the dogs involved. It had previously appeared on a BBC show about problematic puppies.
It is understood Natasha was walking the animals as a hired dog walker at the time of the attack.
Witnesses to the incident later told how Natasha tried to keep passerby away, telling one to “turn back” as she was being attacked by “multiple dogs”.
The Mail quoted sources saying the animals were like a “pack of wolves” and that there was “no barking – just her screaming”.
“She was being attacked, she was trying to sit up, but with the dogs around her and going for her arms she couldn’t do it. It was a frenzy,” the source told the publisher.
Natasha, reports suggested at the time, was walking up to seven dogs when the incident unfolded, when one of them tried to lunge at a woman and her smaller dog.
The source told the Mail: “Most of them may have been still on their leads.
“They were tangled round her, meaning she couldn’t stand. It was impossible for them to get away, so in their frenzy they just went for what was in front of them.”
Police last week confirmed that none of the dogs involved were banned breeds, and that no people have been prosecuted over her death.
The police force said last week they would be closing the investigation, with a file passed on to the coroner.
