It better have been the size of Aragog…
A woman in Scotland had such a dramatic reaction to a spider that five police officers turned up at her door.
Holly Hunter was left “mortified” after her neighbours called the police fearing for her safety and wellbeing.
Hunter, who lives in Livingstone, had apparently spent 40 minutes trying to get rid of a moth in her room when she discovered the eight-legged fiend, apparently the “size of the palm of her hand”, at the foot of her bed.
At first, she tried to throw books at the spider to encourage it to crawl away, but when it ran towards her she screamed so loudly that neighbours called the police.
The 30-year-old told Edinburgh Evening News: “I’d honestly say it was the size of the palm of my hand.
“I think I was screaming and crying and making such a racket that my neighbour thought I was being attacked.”
When Hunter later heard the doorbell ring, she presumed it was her stepdad. However, she was rather surprised to instead see five policemen there asking if she was okay.
“I looked through the peephole and five policemen were standing there. I opened my door, and before they could say anything I just cried: ‘I’m so sorry there’s a spider under my bed and I’m petrified!,” Hunter said.
When she was asked if anyone else was in the flat, she replied: “No, just me and the spider.”

Since the police have a duty to keep communities safe, they helped out Hunter, and when the little fella “strolled” out into the hall, they nabbed him.
Good job there were five of them as well so they had enough pairs of handcuffs….
A spokesman for Police Scotland confirmed the call out to the Edinburgh Evening News, saying that the disturbance was found to have been a “spider being in the house”.
“Suitable advice and assistance was provided and the spider was located and removed.”
Perhaps the police need a dedicated spider hotline, because there may be a few more stories like this over the coming months as sex-starved spiders are expected to enter our homes.
