Donald Trump has faced widespread criticism after meeting Vladimir Putin on Monday during the Helsinki Summit. He appeared in a joint press conference with the Russian President and has been accused of undermining United States democracy and his own intelligence staff and justice department.
The controversy surrounding the incident stems from Trump openly accepting Putin’s denial of Russian interference during the 2016Â general election, despite significant US intelligence to the contrary.
Trump’s actions have been met with fierce criticism from all corners, not just the US, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, star of the Terminator franchise and former Governor of California, is the latest to voice his disapproval.
In a video released on his personal Twitter account and addressed to @realDonaldTrump, Schwarzenegger said:
“You stood there like a little wet noodle, like a little fan boy. I was asking myself when are you going to ask him for an autograph or a selfie.
You literally sold out at this press conference our intelligence community, our justice system and worst of all our country.
You’re the president of the United States, you shouldn’t do that. What is the matter with you?
What happened to the strong words, and to the strength of President Reagan when he said ‘Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall!’
What happened to all that?”
