A box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts was delivered to 10 Downing Street on Tuesday morning
Footage posted to Twitter shows an armed police officer delivering two boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts to Downing Street ahead of Theresa May’s crunch parliamentary vote on Brexit.
BBC social producer Andy Silke filmed the video, captioning it: “It’s a ‘snacks arriving under armed guard’ kind of day in Westminster.”
The sweet delivery occurred on Tuesday morning, just hours before Theresa May’s proposed Brexit deal will be voted on in Parliament. May’s deal is expected to endure a historic defeat after the prime minister failed to convince sceptical MPs her plan can work.

It is likely that May will push for another vote within days if her deal fails to pass, due to an amendment passed last week, which forces her to present another Brexit deal in the event it is voted down.
The prime minister might also request an extension of Article 50, although the European Union may be hesitant to grant such an option without a reasonable explanation.
It is possible Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn could table a vote of no confidence in the government in the likelihood MPs reject May’s deal. A vote of no confidence can trigger a general election, challenging Tory leadership.
If Corbyn’s vote of no confidence fails, the Labour Party might push for a second referendum on whether or not to leave the EU.
