The group behind the site were tired of the prime minister’s ‘lies’
Webpage Liar.co.uk now redirects visitors to Boris Johnson’s Wikipedia page amid mounting pressure on the prime minister to “tell the truth” over the government’s ongoing ‘partygate’ scandal.
The PM has denied allegations that he partied during lockdown – despite a string of leaks suggesting otherwise.
Last Wednesday at Prime Minister’s Questions, after a slew of irrefutable evidence, he was forced to apologise for attending one of the get-togethers – but claimed he thought the May 2020 gathering was a “work event”.
The website Liar.co.uk began redirecting to Johnson’s Wikipedia page over the weekend after he faced fresh allegations of breaking covid restrictions and increased pressure to resign.
Mark Rofe, 32, from Surrey plotted the website redirect on Twitter, where a few people chipped in to cover the cost of the website domain.
He said: “Initially I wanted to register Liar.co.uk and put a website up with all the lies our Prime Minister has told, but the domain was already taken, and I realised listing all of Boris’ lies could end up becoming a full time job.
“But I did see that the domain was available to rent for £299 a month… so I shared the idea on Twitter and got a few people together to split the cost and redirected it to his Wikipedia page.”

I’d like to either 302 redirect it to Boris Johnson’s Wiki page or put up a page with his photo detailing every lie he’s told.

Rofe, who originally purchased the domain in the hopes of documenting a running list of “Boris’ lies”, hopes the redirect will make a “serious point” about the Tory leader “in a humorous way”.
Angharad Planells, head of business development and culture at Radioactive, donated to fund the domain in a bid to draw attention to the need for “Transparency and openness” in government.
He said: “For me, it’s the sheer volume of proven lies Boris Johnson and this Government have been allowed to tell. Liars always get found out, and the receipts are there – lying to the Queen, evidence of multiple parties, the VIP lane for PPE contracts was unlawful, Wallpapergate, the list goes on.
“Without trust you cannot hope to lead, and Boris Johnson has shown time and time again that he is not to be trusted. When someone shows you who they are, believe them”
Rofe is hoping to keep the domain redirect until the end of Boris Johnson’s premiership.
