The London mayoral election will take place in 2020
Shaun Bailey is the Conservative party candidate for the London mayoral election in 2020, where he will look to unseat current mayor Sadiq Khan.
Speaking at the Conservative party conference 2019 in Manchester, Bailey used his speech to blame Khan for the spate of knife-related deaths which have taken place in the capital over the last year.
Rather than support police, Bailey said, Khan has worked on his own image in a bid to become the next Labour leader.
JOE sat down Bailey at the CPC 2019 to talk about his own party’s leader, Boris Johnson, who is currently besieged with allegations, ranging from groping a journalist 20 years ago, to a conflict of interest row over his relationship with US tech entrepreneur Jennifer Arcuri.
While stating that most allegations of this kind are serious, Bailey questioned the timing of the accusations as “conveniently timed” and claimed they were a distraction from bigger issues.
Bailey also stated how he would tackle London’s crime problem if he were to become mayor.
