He had promised to make a donation from his fee
Matt Hancock has been slammed after it emerged he only donated £10,000 of his huge £320,000 fee for appearing on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! to charity.
The former health secretary caused controversy last year when he agreed to appear on the ITV reality show, and managed to make it all the way to the final, eventually finishing third behind Owen Warner and Jill Scott.
Before heading into the jungle, it was revealed that Hancock would be supporting St Nicholas Hospice Care with his pay cheque for taking part, a charity he raised almost £8,000 for during 2021’s London Marathon.
A source had told the Metro that Hancock would be making a donation to the hospital from his fee and that the politician would declare the amount he received for appearing on the show “to ensure complete transparency.”
On Thursday, it was confirmed that Hancock had been paid £320,000 for his 30 days in Australia.
A source has since revealed that Hancock donated £10,000 of this fee to charity.

They told the Metro: “As well as raising the profile of his dyslexia campaign in front of 11-million viewers, Matt’s donated £10,000 to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and the British Dyslexia Association, off the back of his appearance on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.”
He has been on the receiving end of a backlash following the news of the donation though, with many unhappy with his decision to donate just 3.1 percent of his fee.
I see Hancock earned £320k for I'm A Celeb and he gave £10k of it to charity. A whole 3.1% of the fee. I thought it was all about charity and raising the profile of his dyslexia campaign.
Don't tell me Matt was less than honest with the Great British public

Matt Hancock was paid 320k for his I'm a celeb appearance. But it's ok because he donated 10k to charity. 3%. He did however keep 97% for himself.

His six-figure I’m A Celeb fee comes off the back of Hancock taking part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, for which he was paid £45,000 for 80 hours filming.
The Tory MP, who will be stepping down at the next general election, spent the first week of October filming , before heading out to Australia.
