Life comes at you fast.
After news of Emmanuel Macron’s victory emerged, Theresa May, Donald Trump and practically every other world leader passed on their congratulations to the new French president.
This being said, there will always be a few people who throw their toys out of the pram after any loss.
After Macron’s decisive victory of 65.5% to 34.5% over Marine Le Pen, the National Front candidate was combative as she said her “historic and massive” score helped turn the party into her into “the leading opposition force against the new president’s plans.”
Given the recent victories of both Trump and Brexit, it appeared that the direction, force and rhetoric of global politics was beginning to move away from more traditional values and there’s no denying that a Le Pen victory would have been a decisive win for those with anti-EU sentiments.
In this spirit, one man was so confident that he put his money where his mouth is – well, his mouth on Twitter – by openly bragging about a £500 bet that he placed on Le Pen’s inevitable victory.
Here he is, supporting her candidacy with supreme confidence via Twitter.
Truth be told, we greatly admire his conviction with this £500 bet. Surely things would pan out exactly like they did with Brexit and the US presidential elections?
Nope.
Well, every gambler has to lose eventually. It’s always a good idea to learn from your mistakes and move on gracefully.
Did he does this?
Nope.
Somewhere, right now, he’s probably desperately scrambling for an actual kid that he can drag into the bookies and pin the blame on.
Yeah, people didn’t believe those tweets.
Best of luck getting that £500 back. You’re going to need it.
