Money isn’t real
I don’t really understand money. The stock market, and its constantly changing landscape due to people’s hunches on what might happen in the future, has never made sense to me. Watching the Wolf of Wall Street made it somewhat clearer, but only emphasised my preconceived idea that none of it is real. In the words of Matthew McConaughey, it’s a fugazi.
The Big Short did go to some way to explaining how the 2007-08 financial crash happened, but also made me think, why the fuck did no seismic change come of it?
On this note, I want to give a big shout out to the r/WallStreetBets subreddit and everyone who has sunk hedge funds by piling their cash into GameStop stocks, making a mockery of the whole industry in the process.
There have been some heartwarming stories of what redditers have done with the money they have won/earned as a result, paying off astronomical medical bills and the like. It’s a small win for the little guy.
Enjoy the quiz.
