‘Oh good, We are safe from this loons grasp once more’
Twitter users have been reacting to the news that Elon Musk is seeking to end his $44bn (£36bn) bid to buy Twitter, claiming multiple breaches of the agreement.
After Musk, 51, announced his decision to buy Twitter in April, many wondered why the richest man on the planet was seeking to buy a social media platform. After all, as a member of the UN told him, there are literally millions starving across the globe.
Musk has said that he backed out of the deal because Twitter failed to provide sufficient information on the number of bots and fake accounts. Funnily enough, it was revealed earlier this year that Musk’s own followers are dramatically lower than they appear.
“The Twitter Board is committed to closing the transaction on the price and terms agreed upon with Mr. Musk,” Twitter chairman Bret Taylor wrote in a tweet. The original deal had a $1bn break-up fee.

Fans of the site have been reacting to the news, and the general consensus seems to be one of positivity.
“Oh good, We are safe from this loons grasp once more,” wrote one user, while another piped: “No way he purchased Twitter just to throw aside the fact that he literally got his worker pregnant with twins.”

And like clockwork, activist and actress Jameela Jamil returned to the site after previously shutting down her page because of Musk’s takeover.
“MWAHAHAHAHAHA I’m BACK. Here’s a new BTS video from #SheHulk,” she wrote.
While there are, of course, the tech bros and Twitter dudes who would love Musk to takeover, it seems litigation is in the stars instead.
