Just when we all thought Conor McGregor was certain to meet Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 197, reports began to circulate claiming the announcement about the fight had been postponed.
McGregor, who recently defeated Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds, would become the first consecutive two-weight champion if he were to defeat RDA, adding extra interest to an already intriguing fight.
Multiple reports have suggested that the fight should have been confirmed on Sunday, but the announcement had to be delayed as McGregor has yet to sign a fight contract.
According to Globo, the delay could be to do with McGregor, who has seemingly demanded more money from the promotion. Rumours in the Brazilian media and MMA forums suggest that the Dubliner wants somewhere in the region of $15-20m (approximately £10-13m) for the fight against dos Anjos, although at this stage nothing has confirmed this.
