Many men that have grown up knowing the constant sibling rivalry that exists between brothers will have some sympathy for Florentin Pogba.
Although Florentin is a professional footballer, currently plying his trade with St. Etienne in France’s Ligue 1, his achievements in the game have been well and truly dwarfed by his younger brother, Paul.
On Monday, Paul Pogba, who plays for Juventus and is widely regarded as one of the game’s most exciting prospects, took his place in the FIFA FIFPro World XI.
The 2015 Ballon d’Or winner was also revealed at the same ceremony in Zurich, and (of course) went to Lionel Messi, who was also named in the World XI.
But Paul’s hopes of making the shortlist were seemingly done no favours by his older brother. With Florentin, captain of Guinea, eligible to vote in the Ballon d’Or, Paul might have assumed he could count on him for a favour.
But it appears that wasn’t the case…
It’s now been revealed that Florentin chose not to vote for Paul, selecting Messi as his first choice for the award. But things get worse – Paul doesn’t even make it into his top three selections. Cristiano Ronaldo and Manuel Neuer occupy second and third spots respectively.
