Buckingham Palace announced on Saturday that the duke’s funeral would take place on 17 April
The English Football League (EFL) have announced that the games scheduled to kick off at 3pm on Saturday 17 April will be moved so that they do not clash with the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the governing body of the football league said: “As a mark of respect, EFL matches scheduled for 3pm on Saturday 17 April will be moved to avoid a clash with the funeral of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
“The EFL will now work with its clubs to determine at what time the matches will be played, giving consideration to the timing of the service.
“An announcement will follow in due course.”

Details and plans for the duke’s funerals were announced by Buckingham Palace on Saturday. The service will take place at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle and will “very much” reflect the Duke of Edinburgh’s wishes.
This weekend, a minute’s silence was held before every match across the top four divisions in English football, in memory of Prince Philip who passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, at the age of 99.
