Judge Jonathan Rose, presiding over the Adam Johnson case, has said the former England footballer could be sentenced to up to 10 years in jail.
Johnson was found guilty on one charge of sexual activity with a child, and found not guilty on a further charge.
The 28-year-old had earlier pleaded guilty to one charge of sexual activity with a child and one charge of grooming, and has already signed the Sex Offenders’ Register, The Guardian‘s Josh Halliday reports.

The 15-year-old girl to whom the case relates was among those to give evidence in a trial lasting several weeks at Bradford Crown Court.
Following the rulings, Judge Rose said there was a “high probability” that the former Sunderland player will face a “significant custodial sentence”, with a likely maximum of 10 years behind bars.
