The entertainment world has been in mourning after Ronnie Corbett passed away at the age of 85.
Comedian Corbett certainly had a way with words, both as one half of The Two Ronnies and throughout his long and varied career, but we’re not sure the same can be said for those paying tribute to him.
Corbett was one of Crystal Palace’s most famous celebrity fans, and the club’s manager Alan Pardew attempted to pay tribute to the 5’1″ national treasure in a press conference ahead of the club’s Premier League meeting with West Ham United.
It may have been well-intentioned, but Pardew has already received a bit of a backlash for his comments.

While there were some less than flattering – or less than serious – comparisons.

Still, plenty were happy to take Pardew’s comments at face value. After all, self-deprecating humour was part of what made Corbett so loved.
