Bolton Wanderers could soon have new owners, with British boxer Amir Khan said to be teaming up with former striker Dean Holdsworth to take over his home town club.
Bolton currently sit 23rd in the Championship and it is reported that the club’s chairman Phil Gartside is set to pay off remaining debts at the Macron Stadium before any takeover occurs.
According to the Daily Star, the pair hope to finalise a £15m deal for the club in the coming days.
Khan, a keen supporter of the club, has reportedly agreed to hold his future fights at the club’s stadium as part of the deal.
Holdsworth, who scored 39 goals for the club, will assume the role of club chairman if the deal goes through.
