Are UFC taking a sly dig at Nate Diaz’s brother with his medical suspension?

Where there's smoke...

Someone at the UFC has a cruel sense of humour.

Nate Diaz may have defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 196, but it appears he came out the worse of the two after receiving a medical suspension from the organisation.

While a medical suspension isn’t exactly surprising considering the Californian’s bloody face, it’s the date of his return that caught our eye.

UFC 196: McGregor v Diaz

The Stockton native won’t be out for too long, with his return set for April 20, or, according to America’s dating system, 4/20.

Nick Diaz, Nate’s older brother, is currently serving a suspension of a different kind. Put bluntly, the elder Diaz has been banned from UFC for testing positive for marijuana.

While they might act the dope at UFC sometimes, we’d be surprised if the higher-ups decided on this date without hashing it out first.

Diaz already got a smaller share of the pot according to official payout figures, and this unusual return date could ensure it’s more than just his joints that are hurting after such a bruising contest.
