Trading a much-maligned striker for another that scored 36 times in Serie A last season. May next year will really be Arsenal’s year.
We’ll get right to it – Olivier Giroud could be heading to Napoli with Gonzalo Higuain heading in the opposite direction.
That’s what is on the respective, polished tables of Arsenal and Napoli after Giroud’s agent Mickael Manuello called Naples ‘a magnificent city’. Magnificent? That’s a stretch.
Manuello is quoted in The Sun rattling a transfer cage or two on his client’s behalf. He commented:
“[Giroud] would lead a wonderful life, not to mention that the type of game orchestrated by Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri could enhance the quality of a centre-forward like him…
“At the moment, Giroud is an Arsenal player. If he was asked to leave, then we would evaluate our options.”
Higuain’s name was not mentioned but that has not stopped the paper from speculating that Higuain could be off to London in the Frenchman’s place. After all, Arsene Wenger could hardly go into a league campaign with a squad lacking in goalscoring power, could he?
There’s the small matter of an extra £40m heading Napoli’s way too yet Asenal fans are practically salivating at the speculation. In fairness there are a good few ‘why not both?’ posts.
Get the red and white ribbons
If the Giroud swap for Higuain is true I'll be sooo happy. The title would be ours.

Why not both?
Giroud + 50million for Higuain who's 29????
Rather buy Lacazette and play two up top

Another call for two up top
Don't want giroud leaving as part of any potential Higuain deal
