Arsenal fans claim they didn’t want Mahrez anyway as he signs new Leicester deal

He's staying put.

Riyad Mahrez will remain at Leicester.

The PFA Player of the Year for last season has signed a new deal with the defending champions to keep him at the King Power Stadium until 2020.

Mahrez was a key component in Leicester’s title-wining side last season, scoring 17 goals and assisting 11 others in his 37 league games for the club during their historic run to become champions of England.

His performances led to speculation that he would make like N’Golo Kante and leave Claudio Ranieri and co, but just like Jamie Vardy he resisted the approaches of a certain team based in North London and remained.

Arsenal fans had spent the summer begging Arsene Wenger to make a move for the pacey Algerian, but as soon as the winger’s new deal with Leicester was announced, the tone started to shift among Arsenal fans as they began to deny they were ever in for him in the first place.

While the rest of us are gushing over the 25-year-old’s skills, only Arsenal fans can peak through the facade and see Mahrez for what he truly is – a fraud.

That’s because Mahrez is just a cheap imitation of [insert overhyped Arsenal player’s name here].

For others, it saved them an unnecessary selection headache.
