Arsenal have an unfortunate nightmare before Christmas on Instagram

Epic fail

Ben Kiely

It truly is remarkable that someone at Arsenal thought this was a good idea.

While the general consensus is that it’s the most wonderful time of the year, Arsenal fans are resigned to being the designated scrooges as their beloved club has gone through a tough time as of late.

Not only are the Gunners having to cope with back-to-back 2-1 Premier League losses to Everton and Manchester City respectively, but they have to lick their wounds with the knowledge that their talisman Alexis Sanchez has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at the Emirates.

The Chilean star has 18 months remaining on his current deal and with no signs that he’s ready to commit his future to the club, fans are beginning to worry that he may be looking for a move elsewhere once his deal runs out.

As everyone knows, players tend to be a lot cheaper to buy when they’re not tied down to a deal, which is why using Sanchez’s image to advertise the discounted festive items in the club shop on Instagram wasn’t the smartest move by the club. No doubt rival fans were rubbing their hands together as they saw Sanchez crop up on their feeds bearing a massive “Sale. Save up to 75%” caption.
