Arsenal mark Arsene Wenger’s *actual* anniversary with cheeky vid of ‘zipgate’

This will be his true legacy

Rob Burnett

In case the deluge of media coverage has passed you by and you haven’t heard, Arsene Wenger is celebrating 20 whole years in charge of Arsenal.

It’s an incredible achievement in the modern game where the average length of a manager’s tenure at a top flight club is about as long as, well, the last England manager’s reign.

There has been some confusion as to the date the anniversary should be marked given that he was announced in the job in September, but today, October 1 marks the day he officially started work at the club in 1996 (we won’t mention the fact that Wenger signing Patrick Vieira had already turned up at Highbury).

The club clearly wanted to make public their own tribute to the man no one had heard of when he took over all those years ago.

The posted this video on their Facebook page which neatly summarises his career at the north London club:

But the little scamps in the Gunners media department couldn’t resist a second video, and one slightly less flattering about ‘Le Boss’ and the trouble he’s had over the years with troublesome coat zips.

Poor old Arsene. £8million a year – and presumably unfettered access to the club shop – and he still has this crap coat.
